Lignin Industries starts production of lignin-based material Renol®, to replace fossil-based plastics, with a capacity of more than 1000 tonnes/year
RenCom is proud to announce the start of production of Renol® that will make a true impact on the market and speed up the journey towards a world without fossil-based plastics. Lignin Industries secures the supply of lignin for the start of production of more sustainable and bio-degradable polymers
Swedish innovation company RenCom aims to replace fossil-based plastic with products derived from the forest industry. One of these products is lignin. Together with Stora Enso, Rencom is working on the further valorisation of lignin where Lineo™ by Stora Enso is combined with biocomponents to create renewable and functional bio-granulates that can replace plastic in different applications.
Coperion supports RenCom in production of durable biomaterial
RenCom has chosen Coperion’s state-of-the art twin screw extrusion system to enable the production of RENOL®. Following comprehensive studies in Coperion’s extrusion test lab in Stuttgart, Germany, RenCom and Coperion were able to further develop the processing of this lignin-based material and transform it into durable, reusable biomaterial by using the ZSK twin screw extruder technology. RenCom will be able to produce up to 1000 tons RENOL® per year starting late 2020.
